Formally named Kupfermünze (meaning, “copper coin”), Cooper, a chestnut warmblood Rheinlander gelding, is 21 now. He was born with a serious leg issue, but was rescued from his original neglected situation by a breeder and horsewoman we knew. She had his condition successfully surgically corrected and then sought a great “forever” home for him. We acquired him soon in August, 2005, while he was a yearling.
Cooper is an inveterate clown. He spend his early years paddocked with four mares, so his early life’s work was antagonizing those mares, regularly getting put back in his place, and learning how to be a “big horse”. Cooper rides English, and although due consideration for his well being won’t permit “real” jumping, he does enjoys an occasional pass across low crossrails. He is Sabre’s sidekick and a constant “halter tag” buddy to both Sabre and Cory.
